Fishing guide
California Roach (Hesperoleucus Symmetricus) is a small fish related to the Carp family that is native to western North America and particularly abundant throughout California. These fish can adapt to varying habitats and are predominantly found in small warm streams as well as larger colder streams. California Roach can be identified by a dark-gray chunky body with a big head and a small downward turned mouth. When it comes to size, these small fish rarely exceed 11 cm (4 inches) in length with a maximum weight of about 100 g (3.5 oz). Mainly a bottom feeder, California Roach feed mostly on algae, aquatic insects and crustaceans.
When it comes to float, feeder, or bottom fishing, the best way to catch California Roach would be to use Semolina Balls on a size #6 hook.
