Fishing guide

Chum Salmon (Oncorhynchus Keta) is a Pacific Salmon with the largest natural range of distribution and can be found among other places around the north Pacific, the Bering Sea, from Alaska to California in the United States, around British Columbia in Canada as well as in the waters of Korea and Japan. Chum are anadromous fish, meaning they migrate from the sea up into freshwater to spawn. Chum Salmon silvery blue green coloration when in the ocean, but the color changes to dark olive green when they move into fresh water. Around spawning time, adults have purple blotchy streaks near the tail. Fully grown Chum usually weigh from 4 to 10 kg, but unique specimen can sometimes grow to 18 kg. While young Chum Salmon feed on zooplankton, crustaceans and insects, adults eat mostly smaller fish.

If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Chum Salmon would be to use Shiners on a size #4/0 hook.

If you are more into artificial lures, you should go for some Single Spoons.

The most successful lure is Black and Pink Single Spoon 42 g, #4/0.
