Fishing guide

Narrow-Barred Mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson) is a large pelagic coastal schooling fish of the Scombridae family, also known as the Spanish Mackerel. It can reach up to 70 kilograms in weight and about 8 feet (2.4m) in length.

It can be found at depths of up to 200 meters in the tropical waters of the Indian and Western Pacific Oceans. This fish prefers to settle near reefs, but can also swim in estuaries and lagoons.

This is an undemanding and voracious predator that hunts around the clock. Small fish, shrimp, and squid make up the basis of its diet.

If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Narrow-Barred Mackerel would be to use Japanese Jack Mackerel on a size #10/0 hook.

If you are more into artificial lures, you should go for some Pilkers.

The most successful lure is Gold/Black/White Bucktail 50 g, #6/0.
