Fishing guide
Oscar (Astronotus Ocellatus) is a species of fish from the cichlid family native to South America that has been introduced to other areas, including the United States. This fish typically prefers slow-moving white-water habitats, and can often be found under submerged branches. Fish of this species are usually darkly coloured with yellow-ringed spots on their dorsal fin. Oscar usually weigh around 0.2 to 0.5 kg, but have been reported to sometimes grow to 1 kg (2 lb). These fish are carnivorous, feeding predominantly on crayfish, worms and insects.
If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Oscar would be to use Bloodworms on a size #1 hook.
