Fishing guide
Redear Sunfish (Lepomis microlophus) is native to the southeastern United States. Due to its popularity as sport fish, it has been introduced all over North America. The species resembles the bluegill except for larger size and a dark olive-green body with yellow shades on the lower sides, and whitish on the belly. Adult fish are usually between 20 and 24 cm (7.9 and 9.4 in) in length and about 0.45 kg (0.99 lb) in weight. Max length is 43.2 cm (17.0 in), and max weight is 2.3 kg (5 lb). Redear Sunfish have a natural diet consisting of mollusks and snails.
When it comes to float, feeder, or bottom fishing, the best way to catch Redear Sunfish would be to use Bloodworms on a size #1 hook.
