Rod and reel compatibility

The Njörinvik Ragnarok 24000 SE saltwater spinning reel with its drag, ratio and line capacity.

Reel Types

When choosing a fishing reel, pay attention to its compatibility with different types of fishing rods.

Spinning reels are for use with spinning, telescopic and match rods. They have a fixed spool and the absence of inertia makes them good for longer casts.

Baitcasting (casting) reels are more powerful compared to spinning reel of the same level, but can be used only with casting rods.

Telescopic, match, spinning and casting rods

Telescopic- typically a long float rod meant for close range pitching.

Match - a relatively short and powerful float rod for long-distance fishing using the overhead cast.

Spinning - combined with a spinning reel, this rod is used for catching predatory fish with artificial lures.

Casting - also is intended for catching predatory fish, but should be equipped with baitcasting reels.
